Necklace

20th Century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Jade has long been particularly highly regarded in China, valued for its aesthetic qualities and for a series of metaphorical virtues the stone has come to represent. It comes in a variety of colours, and indeed the term jade encompasses two similar minerals, jadeite and nephrite. These beads were probably carved in China for the Western market. The enamelled gold clasp is either European or American-made.
