This piece is from a group of tools assembled for display in the V&A by Paul Holdway, formerly head engraver at Spode's factory, which includes items made by Paul Holdway himself. The accession numbers for the group runs from C.40 to C.49-2008.
These scissors were used by 'transferers' at the Spode factory to cut out tissue paper transfer-prints before they were applied to biscuit-fired earthenware.
