Object history | The stem of the spoon is engraved with the name of its original owner, Hans Veit Von Harras. In the nineteenth century the spoon belonged to the British politician and collector Ralph Bernal (1784-1854). It was among just over 700 objects from his collection purchased at auction after his death by the Museum of Manufactures (later the V&A). |
