Folke Arstrom behgan his career as an artist and industrial designer in the 1930s. From 1940 until 1960, he was artistic director for the stainless steel, cutlery and kitchenware manufacturer, A.B. Gense of Eskilstuna.

Gense, an abbrevation of Gustaf Eriksson NySilverfabriken in Eskilstuna, is one of the leading cutlers in Europe. The company was founded in 1856, and has been making cutlery since the 1920s. Much of its present cutlery is reminiscent of its earlier models. The Danish branch of Gense traces its roots back to 1838 and the famous company Andersen & Burchart and later on the famous silversmith Carl M. Cohr and his magnificient silverware. Hence, timeless design, elegance and high quality materials and finish are the hallmarks of Gense.

The head office of Gense is located in Eskilstuna, Sweden and the company has subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium and France. The high-quality products of Gense are produced in their own plants in Eskilstuna, Gembloux, Tallinn and Turku. Gense has been a part of the K.A.Rasmussen Group since 1995.
