Red sample exercise book (University School, Hastings) once belonging to hand weaver Ruth Vaughan Lodge. It contains samples of vat dyed rayons and cottons with their recipes. Lined pages with the first entry dated April 12th 1922 colour No. 1, and the last dated June 12th 1923 colour No. 40. Each colour amount of yarn dyed is indicated, and then lists the weights of the dyes (with their numbers) entered into the bath. In most cases a small sample of the finished yarn is secured under the recipe.
