The Sowerby mould-makers copied illustrations from Walter Crane's childrens' book 'The Baby's Opera' published in 1877. The 'Ye frog and Ye crow' design on this piece was one of seven illustrations used. Sowerby's named their opaque glass 'Vitro-porcelain. It was made in a number of colours
