Bibliographic reference | D'Agliano, Andreina, ed. Porcellane Italiane dalla Collezione Lokar, Silvana Editoriale, Milan, 2013. Published with dual text in Italian and English. The Cozzi section was catalogued by Luca Melegati. In its introduction, 71p, he states: 'Of the many readily recognizable decorations characteristic of the manufactory, the bersò a merlo d'oro, with its views of Italian gardens, remains one of the most successful.' There are two examples of items with this decoration in the Lokar collection, nos. 42 and 43. In the entry for no. 42, a plate, he states: 'The decoration described as 'a bersò', includes figures mingling under the porticoes and pergolas of Venetian villas. Such scenes were usually taken from poetical compositions and frontispieces dedicated to noble Venetian women (see Pettoello 2005, p. 645). Popular at the Cozzi factory, these idylls went on being produced after this date [1770-75]...' |
