Plate of tin-glazed earthenware (Delftware) painted with enamels and gilded. Narrow rim, deep cavetto and low foot-rim. Slightly wavy edge. Painted with a scene adapted from Japanese Imari ware, in under-glaze blue, iron-red, green, manganese purple, black and gold. A lady robed in red stands within a balustrade holding sprays of flowers in either hand. To her left is a table with a tray on four feet containing flowers and leaves. Above her is a boy dancing and holding leaves. Above him is a pair of pheasants flying. To the right is an indeterminate form painted in underglaze blue, and overpainted with gold scrolls and leaves and to the left of it are sprays of chrysanthemums in red and gold.
