Object history | This is one of Celia Birtwell’s designs inspired by an early 17th-century English embroidered linen cover in the V&A’s Textile Collection (T.53-1926), which was on display in the museum when she was researching designs for her shop. Some of these designs, featuring variations of the animal and floral motifs embroidered on the cover, became one of her most successful furnishing prints. |
