Physical description | Furnishing fabric of screen-printed cotton. With a complex semi-abstract design of organic and geometric forms, and symmetrical about the vertical axis. The border areas have floral forms, not outlined, in orange, pink, blue, green and yellow, on irregularly shapes areas of ground, and these are of turquoise, purple and pink. The outermost area of the border is composed of a diaper pattern in sections in blue, yellow and pink interspersed with thomboids of blotchy green and yellow on a white ground. The central area of yellow ground has a chequer pattern superimposed in mustard yellow with tree-like green blotches which are not symmetrical. In the blank areas at intervals in the centre are sprays of peony-like flowers in pink, yellow and blue. Sewn at the top are three small samples in different colourways (each 8 inches x 8 inches): yellow, pink and blue; blue, green and purple; orange, purple and grey. |
