Furnishing Fabric

1937 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Furnishing fabric of screen printed rayon and cotton, probably for a curtain. Coarse cream rayon twill, screen printed with an all-over well-spaced abstract painterly repeat with lines of 'goblets' overflowing with fruit and foliage. These forms are linked by freely painted curves, latticed areas and blocks. The dominant colour is a dark reddish brown with sky blue and yellow green. The curtain seems to have been made upside down, and is fully lined.
