Jeu des Monuments de Paris

Board Game
ca. 1835 (published)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Games relating to history and geography were popular throughout continental Europe and Britain. The name of this game translates to 'Game of Parisian Monuments'. There are 63 playing spaces which represent places of interest in Paris with additional scenes in the corners. The game would have been played very much the same as the 'Game of Goose'. The end of the game is marked, not surprisingly, with the Arc de Triomphe. The game is very similar to 'Jeu du Grand-Homme' (E.23273-1957) in design and may be by the same publishers.
