Jacquard woven cotton and chenille furnishing fabric. The design shows a repeating lozenge pattern in black with a central eight pointed star. Half of this sample shows the pattern in black on a white cotton tabby ground, in the other half the star are woven in purple, green, brown, yellow and orange chenille.
The sample is a full width of the finished cloth with selvedges on either side. According to a note attached to the cloth, written by Jocelyn Morton, the fabric was woven in 'pre-patterned chenille yarn' presumably meaning pre-dyed to suit the patterning of the cloth as in chenille carpeting.
