Dress Fabric

1815-1819 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Dress fabric of silk woven to shape with a flounce. The silk is woven in pale pink satin with vertical stripes of wavy stems with rosettes and a flounce with stylised flowers in deep and lighter pink in cornucopia linked by a wavy garland of leaves. The silk is clearly from a dress but is now in the form of a worn chasuble.

The shaping of the original dress is still visible. The silk appears to be jacquard woven but this is not absolutely certain. Some motifs show shading which looks like jacquard weaving.
