Woven cotton furnishing fabric with a design called 'Birds and Berries' shows alternate rows of stylised birds in yellow, outlined in brown, and curving leaves in two shades of green, edged in brown.
Both motifs face to the right. The birds and the leaves are arranged on meandering vertical stripes (possibly meant to represent tree trunks) in grass green and yellow, and on brown dotted stripes representing scattered berries.
There are several weaving faults in this sample which has a selvedge on the right hand side. Area of plain weave at each end signify this to be a trial sample.
