The centre piece is a blue river which flows in a V shape. Three arrows denote the clockwise flow of the water. Lines, one centimeter apart, are drawn across the river (these are the playing sqaures). There are two starts, the first at Sandford and the second at Merton. Cut out pictures of the two club houses have been attached to the board onthe inside of the river at each starting point. The length of each race appears to be 2½ miles with ½ mile markers placed along the river banks. The river is sited within many painted squares of fields which resemble a patchwork.
