Chess Set

1930s-1950s (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Set of chess pieces, cast lead, painted blue and dark red. The pieces are solid but relatively flat, with curved outlines. Their bases spread to the front and back to give them small, rounded brace feet. The set is fairly crudely made with the casting lines left untrimmed. However, the paintwork is of good quality and in good condition.

With the set is a wooden box stained orange and marked with a label 'BRITISH MADE WELBECK'
