Place of origin |
This is an unusual and finely made chess set with playing pieces based on the characters from the book Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll (1832-1898). The colours of the pieces are white and red, a combination that is just as traditional as white and black and which suits the characters of the book. The character of Alice is one of the white pawns. The set is very neatly made so that all the pieces fit into compartments in a box which when opened forms the playing board.
