Object history
The original file states that the carpet sample 'copies the design of a double-cloth woven possibly in the late 18th century'. This probably refers to a piece of carpet once loaned to the Museum by the National Trust, from Townend in Cumbria (object number NT 479101.1) dated as 1768.
