Place of origin

Three-frame Brussels carpeting. Stair or corridor carpet, with a brownish-pink ground clustered with pale pink and dull yellow spots; with a border of coupled spots in pale green and single spots in red and mid-green, on a dark olive green ground. The border is edged by green and red stripes. This design comes from a piece of flat-weave 'birdseye' carpeting, possibly second half 18th century. There is the firm's label on the back.
