Design for 'Bedroom 1' for a Top Rank motor inn by Thomas Calloway. The drawing shows a perspective view of an ensuite bedroom with a large window in the left side and to the right is a door, ajar, leading into a view of the bathroom. There are two orange-coloured armchairs on either side of a round table. The drawing is in pencil, pen and ink, watercolour and bodycolour, which is a form of watercolour which has been made opaque by the addition of white pigment. The drawing is a presentation drawing which is a design finished to a high standard for display to a client.

Object history
This architectural drawing was given to the Victoria and Albert Museum by Stephen Calloway, son of the architect, Thomas Calloway. Stephen Calloway is a part-time curator in the Word & Image Department in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Production
Stephen Calloway, son of the architect, stated that 'all the drawings by my father date from1962-66. They are mostly to the earlier end of those four years.'
