early 17th century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Incense burner in bronze form, with bulbous body, three small feet, tall flaring rim and high upright handles. The glaze is greyish and the painting done in sketchy outline style, for this is an example of "popular ware". A design of a scholar reclining under a palm tree is repeated on both sides. A floral sprig is on the neck on both sides.
