Object history | Purchased by Caspar Purdon Clarke on 5 January 1886, at Christie, Manson & Woods (London), together with two similar brass bowls from Iran. Purdon Clarke described the group as follows "These are not later than the XVI Century and are now seldom found. They are not made from European sheet brass like the modern ware in the Museum but are cast in a gold coloured bronze for which Persia was famous" (V&A archive MA/1/C1401/1). |
