Agate Ring-Seal

ca. 2nd century BC-2nd century AD (made)

Large Bead seal: chalcedony. No clear indication of either provenance or date is possible, except that it was probably purchased in N.W.Pakistan. A bead pierced with a large hole through its short axis. A first bezel has been groung into its margin and on this an intaglio of a tree with a leafy topped stem and four leafy branches has been engraved. Probably carried looped by a cord to a girdle.
