Two sculptures Paaderin jää (Paader's ice), cast, the hole made with an iron stick Finland, 1960 Tapio Wirkkala, for Iittala glassworks (Circ.262 &263-1963) Designed in 1960 following an earlier design of 1955, this example was made in 1960. The Paaderin Jää series won a gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1960 and was produced for exhibitions only. It was never in multi- or mass-production. Paader is the name of a Lappish lake and is probably a figure in Finnish mythology. .
