Production | Note from register for C.54: 'Donor's note states that this and C.55 were bought from Mrs. Boutell near Whiteley's, who bought them from the (grand?)son of a man who worked at Kishere's, Mortlake. This jug is stated to represent an "Englishman", compare to no. C.55-1939 which is the "Frenchman" ' Robin Hildyard suggests that these jugs would not have been part of the official output of a pottery and are probably just fun pieces produced by the workers. |
