Gallery label
The stem moulded with 'GOD SAVE KING GEORGE'. Fragments of these found in London show how popular they were. An example in the Museum of London is inscribed 'R Sayer of Braintree 1717', although it is presumed they were actually made only during the coronation year, 1715.
