Vase of meiping form, constructed in horizontal segments and then pressed in a mould. Well potted, with neatly finished mouth and foot. Decorated with a broad band of scrolling peony and lotus round the body, another band containing lotus panel and rounded zigzag above the foot, a band of stylised flowerheads round the shoulder, a band of stylised leaves and a band of zigzag round the neck. Covered with a very pale bluish-green celadon glaze, called by the factory 'qingbai'.

Object history | Bought in China by Rose Kerr, AK/FED in course of trip to China to acquire 20th c. material in April 1984. Notes on significance: Design is modern, though glaze, style of decoration and mark refer obliquley to the 18th century. |
