Vase

1980 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Bowl of flattened globular shape, with tall neck flaring at the rim and a straight, neat foot. White, fine porcelain body, glazed all over with a white, shiny glaze except on the footring, on which it was probably fired; small pinholes in the glaze on the neck. Painted under the glaze with a free design of chrysanthemums in red and blue, which curls round the body, with one floret rising up the neck. The blue leaves are delineated both with heavy outline and light wash infill and with heavy blue reserved against a background of white veins. The red has 'heaped and piled' in places, and tends towards grey in others. On the base is a badly written six-character Qianlong mark in blue.
