Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
Kimono of the type called michiyuki, a three-quarter length coat for wearing over the top of another kimono for outdoor wear. It has a square shape neckline and has button and press-stud fastenings. Otherwise, it is the standard kimono cut. The bottom of the sleeves have been shortened.
The artificial silk from which it is made was patterned on the loom with orange flowers and a geometric grid against a navy blue ground. The surface of the cloth has an embossed effect. The top section only, excluding the sleeves, is lined with a plain weave, off-white silk.
