One of 113 leaves from various sketchbooks with topographical drawings, juvenilia, designs for ornament, sketches of architecture and metalwork. c. 1839-52. Predominantly using pencil, pen and ink, and watercolour.

Object history
Pugin's diary records that he was in Hildesheim between 24 and 25 May 1850. At this time he was constantly looking for motifs that could be adapted for the interior decoration of the Houses of Parliament, or for his business with Crace.
