Brief description
Gold filigree pendant earring, Portugal, 1850-1870.
Physical description
Gold filigree pendant earring, consisting of a disc with applied coil rings set on a hinged wire. A flat filigree pendant, shaped like a bell with a similar, larger disc at its base, hangs from the wire.
Dimensions
  • Length: 4.3cm
  • Width: 1.5cm
  • Depth: 1.5cm
Marks and inscriptions
  • 'P' under a tower (possibly) in rectangular frame. (On side of wire.)
    Translation
    Probably a mark for gold, Oporto, mid-19th century.
  • 'J F' in rectangular frame. (On suspension ring of pendant.)
    Translation
    Mark of unidentified maker.
Summary
