Portable writing desk, carved with silvered brass lock and hinges. The desk is rectangular with two lids, a sloping front lid that opens out into a writing surface, a rear lid that encloses compartments for writing equipments, both secured by a single lock at the front of the rear lid. The exterior is carved with animals and foliage.
The inner face of the lid is lined with purple velvet. The underside is lined in brown velvet.
The rear section is fitted with eight compartments to hold ink-wells & pens.
