Object history | Part of an Indie-Goth outfit (T.43, 45 to 48-1994 and T.656-1995) displayed in the Street Style exhibition of 1985. It was made and worn by Jennifer Taylor. The black leather bra which is worn on the outside of the dress is directly inspired by Vivienne Westwood's "Buffalo Girls" collection of Fall-Winter 1982-83. The motifs and iconography of the dress print, with its skulls and chains, and the heavy leather wristbands, belt and chain, are typical of the Goth movement, but the colours of the dress give it an individualistic, independent or "indie" look. Registered File number 1994/156. |
