This gilt metal medallion, is an electotype of the original silver medallion, made by Antoine Vechte in ca. 1857 in England.
The original, executed in repoussé or beaten work, by A. Vechte, of the National Medallion was destined for distribution in the yearly competition of all the Art schools in the United Kingdom.
It was given to the museum by the Science and Art Department.
