Mug of cream-coloured felspathic stoneware, cylindrical in shape, and with a loop handle picked out in chocolate enamel. Round the sides are three subjects in relief - two children with torches, a child with a lion, and Charlotte at the tomb of Werther. Band of moulded basketwork below, and painted with a brown border below the rim. Glazed inside.

Object history | The mark is possibly that of Mist, a London dealer of 82 Fleet Street, who is stated to have been the London agent for Turner, and was perhaps a partner in the Staffordshire firm of Abbott and Mist, the former of whom is said to have been a partner of John Turner. |
