Balustrade. View north over Princes Gate gardens: backs of houses in Princes Gate in background.Inscription (verso): No 1 (underscored) Inscription (verso of mount): No 1225 x 200 mm PH 299-1947Literature: Microfilm: 3.18.41The instantaneous quality of this photograph is enhanced by the poses of the children, who look as if they were taking the first steps of a dance. Clementina's dress appears to be of 1830's vintage [accordina to Mrs Madeline Ginsburg. Formerley Textiles and Dress Dept, V & A Museum] and therefore may have been one of her mother's old ones, rather than an article of fancy dress.' |
