This medal depicts the bust of Theodore Trivulzio. It is made in the 16th century in Italy by a medallist signing M.A.S.F. and it is suggested by Hill and Pollard that this may well be the medallist Maria Aurelio Soranzo.
Trivulzio was an Italian militarist born into a noble Milanese family.
In 1525 he became governor of Milan but had to leave the city in 1526 after the battle of Pavia. In 1530 he became governor of Lione, where he died a year later in 1531.
