Lastricati was praised by the famous biographer Vasari as a ‘good and skilful sculptor’ who made many works in marble and bronze. This may be one of a set of bronze doorknockers that Lastricati cast for the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Each one took the form of a diamond ring, a Medici symbol.
