Object history | This outfit is remarkably similar to the designs of Gina Fratini from the late '60s; also compare to the Bill Gibb dress T.94-1981. From the mid 1960s Yves Saint Laurent gained a certain notoriety amongst British designers such as Ossie Clark for seeming to directly lift their designs and ideas and reproduce them as his own designs. His 'peasant' fashions, in mixed cotton prints such as this, were very similar to Fratini's work of a few years earlier. |
