After Rubens No.2

Print
2000 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

John Hubbard (born in the United States, 1931; living in UK since 1961) is renowned as a landscape painter, but has also made a number of prints. His work conveys a strong sense of the feel of landscape, its atmosphere and presence. This print (as the title suggests) is one three inspired by a painting by Rubens (this is a night-time scene; the others show the same scene by day). The treatment of the subject has overtones of Samuel Palmer and Graham Sutherland.
