Mug of earthenware transfer-printed in black enamel and painted over the glaze. Cylindrical in shape with a flat loop handle and the rim is outlined in red. On the front is a round medallion printed in black and roughly painted over in red, blue, yellow and green enamels with a coat of arms (a ship's hull with five flags; in chief gules a lion rampant on a cross argent) surrounded by leafy scrolls from which are suspended two medallions with a beehive and a wheatsheaf respectively, and a wreath enclosing clasped hands, and an eagle. The crest is a sun's face and below is a scroll inscribed 'FRIENDLY SOCIETY OF SHIPWRIGHTS'. Above are painted in black with the names 'James and Mary Corbin'.
