Physical description | This double-chambered teapot of reddish brown clay in the form of two scrolls tied with ribbon is a most imaginative creation. Concentric rings are added to the top of the left-hand scroll and a small chi dragon serves as knop of the lid on the right-hand scroll. A small cartouche enclosing the characters Youchun is stamped on the inside of the lid. Many Yixing potters signed their works, and it is not unusual to find teapots inscribed with the names of both the owner and the potter. When only one name is found on a piece, as in the present case, it is not always possible to tell whether the name belongs to the owner or the potter. |
