This dolls’ house was made by Lundby, a well known Swedish company which has been designing and producing dolls’ houses since 1947. Although this model was made in 2003 it is the same Gothenburg design which has been made since the late 1950s.
In addition to houses, Lundby produced coordinating furniture and accessories so that you could decorate your house. They were the first manufacturers to produce houses with electric lighting. It is always Lundby’s ambition to keep up with the times, following trends in interior decoration and design. This house has several features of a twenty-first century home including a computer and large television.

Brief description | Fully furnished five roomed wood and plastic dolls' house made in Sweden by Lundby in 2003 |
Physical description | Scandinavian style dolls' house with a red roof, yellow external walls, white window frames and window boxes. The house has no front which allows unobstructed access to the rooms inside. All of the rooms have electric lighting which is operated by connecting a Lundby transformer to the back of the house. This also powers other accessories including the computer, television, and fish tank. The house has three rooms on the ground floor; a kitchen, dining room, and bathroom. The stairs lead up from the dining room to the living room which is split level. In the top left-hand corner is the bedroom. Each room is fully furnished with Lundby furniture, accessories, and wallpaper. |

Object history | This style of dolls' house was first introduced by Lundby in the late 1950's. Lundby were the first manufacturers of dolls' houses to include electric lighting in all their buildings. Each type of house produced was given a model name. This style of house was known as the Gothenburg model although in 2006 it was renamed Småland. Lundby also produced a wide range of coordinating furniture and accessories that were contemporary to the date of the house. |
