This was one of many crowns made to decorate the
procession route for the coronation of Edward VIII.
However the coronation never took place – Edward
abdicated months into his reign to marry the
divorcee Wallis Simpson. The decoration was used
instead for the coronation of George VI in 1937. It
was used again in 1953 for the coronation of Queen
Elizabeth II.

The donors say this crown was used in two coronation ceremonies.
