This rank badge (hyungbae in Korean) features a pair of black and white leopards, one above the other in opposing stance, surrounded by stylised cloud patterns in pink, purple and pale green upon a blue background. Between the paired animals is a trip-part eum-yang (yin-yang) symbol in blue, yellow and pink. Below are rocks and multi-coloured rainbow patterns with a central swastika.
Hyungbae featuring leopards were worn exclusively by military officials. Those with two leopards signified that the wearer belonged to the first to third military ranks. The rank badge dates to the late Choson kingdom (1392-1910).

Korean rank badge (hyungbae) in embroidered silk.
The hyungbae features a pair of black and white leopards, one above the other in opposing stance, surrounded by stylised cloud patterns in pink, purple and pale green upon a figured blue silk background. Between the paired animals is a tri-part eum-yang symbol in blue, yellow and pink. Below are rocks and multi-coloured rainbow patterns with a central swastika in a roundel.
