Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This small cylindrical case is made of iron. The front is decorated with various silver-inlaid designs including two large dragons in the centre, and fret, scroll and leafy bands, separated by a double-line both in the upper and lower parts of the case. The dragons are symmetrically facing each other around a flame-shaped orb, with their tails and legs upright. The dragons’ heads and bodies were inlaid before the remaining details, in thicker lines than the cloud motif filling the entire background. Below the dragons a layer of wave pattern decorates the case. Traces of gilt remain on the flame and double dragon designs.
