Object history
Sunil Janah explained to the Curator of Photographs, Mark Haworth-Booth, in 1996 that he had made this print from two negatives. He had photographed the burning vehicle and the rest of the street scene as separate exposures at the same interval of time. He was dissatisfied with the appearance of this vintage print, tried to improve it by rubbing and other manipulation, and finally made a new print - using the same montage procedure - which is E.43-1997.
