Object history
Irene Finch note, 2009: Finch 88/56 FE.48-2006
Round Hirado b&w dish with flat rim, good very white porcelain, low foot, and sets of Hirado-type curls on the back. Design has trees and hills, area-stencilled in shades of blue, some with stamped designs of little trees on top. Foreground with freehand ducks: an effective design copying Nabeshima techniques seen on 85/84, but probably not intended as a direct copy since the very white glaze (v. Nabeshima pale green) is so obvious. Published
KoNab IIb; Arts of Asia Mar 2001, 26; and vol 25/1, No 101.
Relevance
Distinction from Hirado, and interaction.
