Plate, cream-coloured earthenware painted in colours. Painted in the middle with a stylised Chinese lion in red within a wide blue band surrounded by formal flowers and foliage in red an dull green; on the rim, red panels formed by red cartouches each containing starry flowers in blue and red.

'B' impressed (A marked dessert servicein this pattern (illustrated in British Pottery and Porcelain: an illustrated Encyclopaedia of Marked Specimens has most of the pieces impressed with the initials I.E.B., some with W. below (for John & Edward Baddeley). The plates have only the initial B impressed.)
